Descending to watery depths, pressure builds and sunlight dissipates. Gia finds herself in a facility buried beneath immense pressure- a world of towering cliffs, tight caves, and volcanic heat. As she and the crew navigate the many dangers, they discover that the natural walls of the Trovant are home to humans and animals that grow to unnatural sizes. The refugees from Trellis must adapt to a new culture, a new way of thinking, and a new way of surviving. But as the Trovant’s walls strain under crushing pressure, Gia begins to wonder- if the world around her is on the verge of collapse, how much of what she believed about Alaster will break down with it?
