Toccara Finch Pittman was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. Toccara began writing poetry at the age of thirteen. She is not only a writer but an advocate for the community in which she was raised and surrounding areas. She has interned at safe haven homeless shelters and food pantries throughout Waukesha area. Her passion is working with the homeless population that mainstream society often ignores. Toccara seeks to offer inspiration and motivation to our most vulnerable populations. Toccara received an Associate degree in human services from Waukesha County Technical College in 2015. She received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ottawa University in 2017. Currently she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Arts & Leadership at Ottawa University. Among her other accomplishments she also holds certificates for youth care workerand developmental disabilities. Toccara has showed her continuous support in her community by donating to local women’s centers and other social services agencies. Her determination and belief in proliferating disadvantaged populations is one that resonates with her core beliefs and values. In December 2018 Toccara published her first urban poetry book 'Preoccupation with my heart runs rampant'. Toccara enjoys traveling, arts, exploring different cultures and cuisine, films, and reading. She is invested in family and close friends. She currently resides in Lake Country with her partner of seventeen years.
