The novel follows the lives of two families over 22 years. Set in two fictional Australian country towns. The main theme is that of a missing child, what happens to the child and her family. There is romance, murder, tragedy, and relationships. The novel is a definite page turner as the twists and turns unfold. The time is present day. Mazi Mcburnie is a 79-year-old novelist who has published 9 books over ten years. She lives in Bacchus March, just out of Melbourne, and loves reading, gardening, and cooking. Mazi is a widow with two Birman cats named Thea and Frankie, and a Maltese Shi Tzu dog called Albert. Mazi grew up in a tiny gold town called Gulgong, then moved to Deniliquin NSW, where she lived and was married to Douglas for 56 years. In 2011 she moved to Bacchus Marsh. Mazi has a degree in social welfare and worked in aged care for over twenty years. She also taught students in the NSW TAFE system for 15 years. Mazi loves going out to lunches with friends and visiting lovely old surrounding towns to see gardens. Mazi cooks for a group called Soul Food where hot meals are served each week to needy people. Her favourite meal is roast lamb, and her favourite dessert is sticky date pudding. For the past two years, Mazi has cared for her two granddaughters from Canada as they go to high school and university in Australia.
