Publicado en 1884, La Travesía de una dama por Honduras narra la aventura en 1881 de María Soltera desde Amapala hasta Puerto Cortés. 'María Soltera recoge una serie de impresiones y observaciones sobre Honduras justo cuando se estaba iniciando el proceso de integración a la economía y comunicaciones internacionales', señala el ingeniero José Azcona, director ejecutivo de Colección Erandique.'La autora -agrega el ingeniero Azcona- muestra una amplitud de mente y ausencia de prejuicios (notable para su época y considerando que su expedición fue fallida), que le permite documentar sus vivencias de forma objetiva'.
