This novel, primarily set in the 1960s, is seen through the eyes of a white youth growing up in a black society. The story is not as much about hatred as it is about brotherly love, about a positive encounter in the lives of many. The sixties were indeed volatile times, but presented lessons to be learned, lessons to be passed along to future generations. Millions of people are still fascinated by the 1960s, and the history that unfolded dramatically-assassinations, the Vietnam conflict, Civil Rights, the media, the music-yet a time in the 20th century when life seemed much simpler and tangible. The author takes the reader back through some of these days, back to Detroit. While experiencing the 50s and 60s through Jesse’s eyes, his life will become etched in your mind. About the Author-Robert Gray Wallace lived through much of the 1960s as a teenager, celebrating his 19th birthday in Saigon in 1968, just prior to the massive Vietnamese Tet offensive. Growing up he was aware and sensitive to the Civil Rights movement. The rhythm and blues and soulful hits of that era painted dozens of images through the music and lyrics. Much of that time is tightly woven into the pages of this novel simply entitled Tradin’ Shoes.www.tradinshoes.com
