Sleeping Bear is a sleepy community of under two thousand residents nestled in the Texas panhandle, forty miles south of Amarillo. Like all small towns, news travels fast from mouth to mouth. If neither the Kodiaks nor the Lions are eliminated they’ll face each other for the Texas 2A-Division I State Championship in AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Will the Kodiaks finally make it past the first round? This is a tale of what happens from the eve of the Bi-District game, when a mysterious tramp with no last name crosses the Kodiak county line after walking all the way from Arkansas, to the State Finals. A rude awakening occurs when the transient reveals his purpose for making the six hundred mile trek on foot. Long-buried secrets are resurrected, incest is exposed, and treacherous betrayal unwittingly invites death.
