A novel is a prose story in which a picture of human life is presented. That is, the novel is a mirror in which different forms of life can be seen. Gulshan Nanda, an Urdu writer, belongs to a generation of Punjabi Hindus who grew up in the cradle of Urdu Culture. His novels, being popular fiction, have a record of selling thousands of copies in a specific era. Films have also been made on several of his novels. 'Toote Pankh (Broken wings)' is a memorable novel of his in which both the kindness and cruelty of human relationships were successfully depicted. A woman who killed her husband in the greed of wealth, but the responsibility of raising her children was taken up by the younger brother of the deceased.
