To and Fro Through the Soul is more than a collection of poems to me-it is a record of a journey. These pages move through darkness and light, addiction and recovery, fear and faith, destruction and transformation. Some poems were born in places I would never want to return to, while others came from the realization that even in the darkest places, there can still be a light waiting to be found.I didn’t write this book to pretend I have all the answers. I wrote it to tell the truth as I experienced it.There are demons in these pages. There is pain. There is confusion, ego, loneliness, and the struggle of trying to find yourself when you’ve become lost within yourself. But there is also hope. There is family. There is the Source. There is the possibility of becoming something different from what you once were. The title To and Fro Through the Soul represents that movement-the constant pull between opposing forces within us. Light and dark. Life and death. Addiction and recovery. The person we were and the person we are becoming. Some poems may make you uncomfortable. Some may make you think. Some may remind you of someone. And perhaps, if I’m fortunate, one or two might make you look a little deeper into your own soul. This book isn’t meant to be read merely from beginning to end.It is meant to be felt.If you’ve ever been lost, fought your way back, questioned who you were, or searched for meaning in the middle of chaos, there may be something here for you.I don’t claim that these poems will save anyone. But I do believe that sometimes a single honest word, spoken at the right moment, can become a small light in a very dark room. That is what I hope this book becomes.

Three particular themes are basic to this study. First, that the human race and its environment are involved in a slowly progressive process of revelation and understanding of its inherent features; and that we are all participating in this ongoing evolutionary cycle. Second, and closely related to the first tenet, man is not separable from his environment. We all share in this...
