Le changement climatique augmente la fréquence et l’intensité des catastrophes naturelles qui ont un impact négatif sur les pays en développement comme le Bangladesh - en augmentant les vulnérabilités économiques, socioculturelles, informationnelles, psychologiques et physiologiques. La gestion des catastrophes est une option efficace pour réduire la vulnérabilité et assurer la continuité du bien-être. Cette étude tente de comprendre comment le pouvoir des TIC peut bénéficier à la gestion des catastrophes, puis d’étudier quels devraient être les éléments clés de la conception d’un système durable de gestion des catastrophes. L’étude montre que si les TIC sont un outil essentiel pour la gestion des catastrophes naturelles, elles doivent, pour être efficaces, être mises en œuvre dans le cadre d’un système de gestion adéquat, impliquant les communautés locales. L’étude a identifié trois composantes des systèmes durables de gestion des catastrophes naturelles : les TIC, la communauté et la gestion. Les résultats de cette recherche suggèrent qu’une attention particulière doit être accordée à l’évaluation des besoins en matière d’information et de communication.
