Through Three Campaigns: A Story of Chitral, Tirah and Ashantee is a historical fiction novel written by G. A. Henty and published in 1904. The book follows the adventures of a young British officer named Ronald Leslie, who is sent on three different military campaigns in Chitral, Tirah and Ashantee. The story begins with Ronald Leslie being sent to Chitral, a remote region in northern Pakistan, to help defend the British garrison against an attack by local tribesmen. After successfully repelling the attack, Leslie is sent to Tirah, a mountainous region in present-day Pakistan, to help fight against a rebellion led by a local tribal leader. Once again, Leslie proves himself to be a brave and resourceful soldier, and he is eventually promoted to the rank of captain. The final campaign takes place in Ashantee, a region in present-day Ghana, where Leslie is sent to help quell a rebellion against British colonial rule. Here, Leslie faces his greatest challenge yet, as he must navigate treacherous terrain and battle against a fierce and determined enemy.Throughout the book, Henty provides vivid descriptions of the battles and skirmishes that take place, as well as the political and social context of each campaign. He also weaves in themes of loyalty, courage, and patriotism, as Leslie and his fellow soldiers fight to defend their country and uphold the values of the British Empire.Overall, Through Three Campaigns is a thrilling and engaging historical novel that provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of colonial warfare in the late 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
