Through the Frozen Falls offers a collection of poetry that captures the innermost emotions of author Mary Lou before, during, and after her recollection of experiencing sexual abuse in her childhood. These verses are presented in two parts. The poems of the first part were written at a time when Mary Lou’s emotions were stagnant and frozen. Hurt and angry, she felt very alone on a journey of painful discovery. In the verse presented in the second part of the collection, she finds a sense of peace and calmness surrounding her as her world thaws into an amazing sea of life and forgiveness. Through this tough, cathartic passage, she offers thanks to God, the author of her forgiveness, for providing her with the courage to share her journey of healing.Awakened InsightHow many mixed emotionscan one mind even holdAs many new adventuressurprisingly unfoldTo have such a powerful surgeof anger aimed at oneSo deep and full of firea rage enough to stun. And yet, I feel such caringfor another whom I adoreSuch wonderful moving emotionsthat I’ve never felt before. So unlike each otherthese feelings more than expressThe vicious cycle in contrastthat unwillingly I must possess. How enormous is this heartachewhich measures my total mistrustWhat should have been eternal lovehas dissolved into pure disgust. How through the numbnessdid this spark ignite,Without any warning, without any fight ?

The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
