Life is a test that is made up of choices that will affect your days ahead. What choice you make, whether good or bad, is the choice you choose as well as the consequences you have to deal with afterwards. For teenagers, some are easy, like picking out which attire to wear just to go out for the day. Some are difficult, like picking out which attire to wear to a school function, like the school prom. These are just two of the choices that might surface through the minds of our teens, which may not be as hectic as some of the choices adults have to make in their daily life. But keep in mind; although teens do not have to worry about how the bills are going to get paid when finances are low or which meal to cook for the family tonight, they do have teen issues to address when they come across adult situations or when they are placed in an fearful environment.Teen pregnancy is a growing issue that some are facing, as well as drugs and alcohol abuse. Behind closed doors so many teens are being physically and emotionally abused by the one they are suppose to trust, their guardian, their parent, a member of their family. These are just to name a few of issues that some of our teens are facing now. Unfortunately the list of issues could be anywhere from the stresses of fitting in with peers, to trying to keep up with the glamorous life, to the just giving up on life in general, the suicidal option. Throwing in the towel shouldn’t be an option, life is a beautiful thing, it should be celebrated. And one thing to always remember, life is just a test. If the proper tools are given to assist with some of these critical teen/life issues, suicide could be less of an option. And the most valuable tool to give to anybody, whether, teen, friend, family or foe is the ear. Listening, really listening to what the other has to say is the most effective means of communication and the most direct approach to problem solving. Sometimes people just want to vent, get some stuff off their chest; where an answer is really not needed. And sometimes people really need help and come to other for their personal wisdom. But at the same time, some teens find it difficult to talk to anyone about the issues they may be facing and they keep them bottled inside. So how do we get the message across to our teens, to let them know that as an adult, a friend or loved one that we are here and are willing to listen? Sometimes when a stranger shares similarities, it can be helpful, which is why I compiled Through the Eyes of Your Teens.Through the Eyes of Your Teens, is a collection of poems that discuss some of the issues teenagers have gone through or even maybe going through, right now. I consider it as a help guide for young adolescents. To help them realize whatever problems they are facing, they are not alone, someone else has most likely faced them too.

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

In his interpretation of Antigone, Seamus Heaney says, ‘Nobody can be sure they are always right.’ Maureen O’Shaughnessy’s The Truth about A further attends to this idea through various readings of the myth as portrayed by Sophocles, Brecht, Ted Hughes, Anne Carson and, most particularly, Euripides.
