The poems contained in Thoughts and Feelings from the Heart were written during four major periods of my life, as I grew from a teenager to an old man. As a young child I felt shackled with many emotional chains placed upon me by my family and society. Over the years I slowly freed myself from those chains. During the process I had to destroy most of my childhood thoughts and images to release the dark pain of my early life. I kept my Universalist Church heritage and my love for the natural world, but erased nearly all memories of family and school.Once I have completed a poem, I never alter a word. The thoughts and feelings expressed in each poem reflect my true thoughts and feelings at the time of writing.
