Childhood sweethearts prior to the start of World War II, George and Mary Stewart get married and have one son named David. Both George and Mary contribute to the war effort. George in the Army, York and Lancaster Regiment, and Mary in an ammunition factory in Yorkshire.Meanwhile, Sir Robert Black of noble birth is a captain in the York and Lancaster Regiment. Hostilities break out in Salerno where both George and Robert are stationed. As time goes by, their paths cross and old scores need to be settled. An in-depth debate relating to the character of Richard III and the War of the Roses takes place at university as the drama unfolds in this absorbing story of past and current wars.“History was the subject that ran in the Stewart family, as their forefathers were renowned historians and George was just carrying on a tradition. The mediaeval period was his forte and he gave talks and entered debates about certain events during mediaeval times on which he was an expert. However the War had begun and George, feeling it was his duty, enlisted in the army and joined the York and Lancaster Regiment.”Leslie Lumb grew up in Dundee, Scotland. The fourth largest city in Scotland, Winston Churchill was an MP there. “I worked with Dundee Council and am now retired over 10 years. I do voluntary work onboard HMS Unicorn, a 46-gun frigate built in the early 19th century. I also attend a creative writing group in Dundee.” He has written two plays that were performed onstage and this is his second book. His first novella was Life Under Four Monarchs (2012).
