I have always strived for perfection. When I was a child, my father always insisted that I get the best grades in all the subjects that I studied in school. When I went to college, I was not happy unless I made the top grade in the classes I took. Even in law school I needed to excel in the courses that were offered. Jesus is the Son of God, and in His Sermon on the Mount Jesus says to His followers, 'Therefore, be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.' (Matthew 5:48). These words of Jesus can be troublesome if not heard as Jesus intended. Does Jesus really expect Christians to be as perfect as God?
