The Wood Nymph is a fairy tale by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, first published in 1870. The story follows a young prince who becomes lost in a forest and encounters a beautiful wood nymph. The prince falls in love with the nymph and they spend several happy days together, but he eventually realizes that he cannot stay in the forest forever and must return to his kingdom. The wood nymph gives him a magical flower as a token of their love and he leaves, promising to return. However, when he returns to the forest years later, he finds that the wood nymph has grown old and died. The story is a poignant exploration of love, loss, and the passage of time, and features Andersen’s signature blend of enchanting fantasy and emotional depth. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
