The Wine Cellar

When the warnings begin, almost no one is paying attention. In Canberra, Michael Dobbs watches fuel supplies tighten, financial markets behave strangely and supermarket shelves begin to empty. While officials urge calm, he quietly converts the space beneath his garage into a reinforced shelter-a 'wine cellar' stocked with food, water and medical supplies.Charlotte fears he is preparing for a catastrophe that will never come.At Pine Gap, intelligence analyst Scott Thompson sees something far more alarming. Military communications are shifting across several nuclear powers. In a missile capsule deep beneath Wyoming, two American officers wait beside weapons capable of ending millions of lives. Then Canberra is struck.Michael and Charlotte survive underground, joined by Raff, a stray Blue Heeler rescued only moments before the blast. When they finally emerge, the city they knew has become a poisoned landscape of radiation, dwindling supplies and shattered communications. Their best hope lies beyond the ruins, at Lake George-but reaching it will require courage, sacrifice and the help of strangers who have lost almost everything. As governments fracture and the consequences of distant decisions continue to unfold, ordinary people must decide what remains worth protecting when survival strips life back to its foundations. The Wine Cellar is a gripping, deeply human nuclear-survival thriller about love, endurance and the things we choose to keep when the world around us falls apart.
