The Virgin Widow: Or The Triumph Of Gospel Truth Over Hindu Ascetic Superstition is a book written by William Hickey in 1857. The book is set in India and tells the story of a young Hindu widow named Rani who is forced to live a life of asceticism and superstition after her husband’s death. However, when she comes into contact with a group of Christian missionaries, she begins to question her beliefs and eventually converts to Christianity. The book explores themes of religion, culture clash, and the power of faith. It is considered a controversial work due to its portrayal of Hinduism and its promotion of Christianity. Despite this, it remains a significant piece of literature in the history of colonialism and missionary work in India. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
