Part two of the story of Maryann Lloyd, a librarian, who unexpectedly becomes the guardian of the Chronos Vest, a powerful time-travel device invented by the late Dr. Aris Thorne and commissioned by the nefarious billionaire Silas Vance. Vance, who had Dr. Thorne killed and his research destroyed, intended to use the vest for his own nefarious purposes. However, Thorne, foreseeing danger, ensured the vest found its way to Maryann. Maryann continues to use the vest for personal exploration, embarking on numerous adventures through history. She witnesses the destruction of Pompeii, Rosa Parks’ courageous act, the Woodstock festival, and the fall of the Berlin Wall, as well as a gladiator fight in the Colosseum. During her visit to ancient Rome, Maryann falls deeply in love with Maximus, a gladiator. She repeatedly travels back in time to be with him, and he reciprocates her affections, confessing he cannot live without her. Fearing for his safety in the arena, Maryann gives Maximus her lightsaber for his final fight, which he wins dramatically. Afterward, she convinces him to accompany her to her own time, transporting him to her bungalow. Maryann then dedicates herself to teaching Maximus about the marvels of modern technology and the advancements of the new world, which fascinates him. Content and happy to be together, they live a life of shared adventures, traveling through time. Maryann’s personal conflict lies in her growing attachment to Maximus and the ethical dilemma of interfering with the past, particularly when she provides him with advanced technology. The resolution sees Maximus successfully integrating into her time, learning to speak English and embarking on a future of shared temporal adventures. They journeyed to a more contemporary Rome, which greatly pleased Maximus. Subsequently, they visited Egypt in 1279 to meet Ramesses II and traveled to France in 1815 to observe Napoleon.
