His interest in writing began during his early years as a full-time academician with the publication of numerous scientific papers and articles in popular magazines. He is also the author of 'Zuni Stew' and 'Hopi Tea,' both from Sunstone Press and lives with his wife, professional painter Sallie Ritter, in the Mesilla Valley in southern New Mexico.
