Chapters include the theory and techniques of the troubadours, the historical context of the troubadours, the Crusades, and the influence of the courtly love poetry tradition in countries such as Spain, Italy, England and Germany.  

There are studies of (and quotations from) many of the famous troubadours, including: Bertran d Born, Arnaut Daniel, Giraut de Bornhel, Bernard de Ventadour, Raimbaut d’Aurenga, and Peire d’Auvergne.
