After serving in the military the author enrolled in college and took a tennis class to fill his program. Adrian enjoyed the class so much he began playing as much tennis as he could, often showing up a courts to call 'winners' on anyone willing to play. He never became as proficient as he would have liked, but he had fun for many years, just showing up at any tennis court to play with anyone who would take him on. The Tennis Jock is a humorous parody of all the years he showed up trying to 'get his game down pat.'
