This is a raw, intimate collection of prose poetry that moves through the fractures of becoming a woman. Of the slow work of navigating family, mother-daughter bonds, longing, invisibility, the body, love, grief, feminism, and self reclamation. It’s narrated in a grieving but unexpectedly tender confessional tone. It doesn’t decorate pain or tidy it up. It sits inside it. What stays with you is the way love and resentment can live in the same body at the same moment, the way absence can shape a life as much as presence, and the hard won moments when the speaker finally turns toward herself. This collection is of a woman writing herself out of the ruins of girlhood and into a clearer relationship with her own womanhood.

The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
