The Tally is an artist’s book created by a computer program written by Sydney Cardew, which uses official UK government statistics to create a memorial for those who have died in the UK during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is intended to give an understanding of the scale of the tragedy by converting unintelligibly large numbers into a physical object.
