On a bright April morning G.L Holder decided to go fishing. He and his friends, Alvin Edwards and Vollie Crisp went fishing every chance they got, and today was to be no exception. It was Saturday so there was no school and they could look forward to a full day of loafing by the creek, fishing poles in hand. GL. packed a lunch of fresh baked biscuits his mother had baked for breakfast along with a square of corn bread left over from the previous day’s evening meal. When Alvin showed up they explained the idea. G.L. wasn’t sure it was a good idea but he was willing to let Vollie give it a try.
