Grace has never been away from home, broken the law, done drugs, or earned any grade lower than a B+. She is about to go off to one of the most prestigious colleges in the country. All of that changes when she wakes up on a mysterious island to be greeted by a family of ageless, immortal mermaids who also came from human civilization at varying points in history and places in the world. She learns that as powerful, beautiful, and indestructible as each mermaid seems, none of them is truly happy. They live in a prison-like Archipelago, hide from humans, and appease tyrants. After hearing the mermaids say that immortality makes life meaningless, Grace tries to escape, but lands herself and the others in unprecedented worlds of trouble. But she also focuses on improving circumstances. In the face of tremendous adversity, she comes to deeply care for her mermaids, but when all is said and done, just one thing remains missing for Grace: her humanity.Ages 16+
