As I sit with the words that make up The Silent Strength: Where unspoken words become the loudest truth, I am reminded of how often we move through life with thoughts and emotions left unsaid. We fill the air with conversations, answers, and explanations, but how often do we give ourselves permission to pause, reflect, and hold space for what we cannot articulate? This collection was born from that very question. There is an undeniable strength in what we leave unspoken-the moments where we hold our thoughts close, where we wait for the right time, or where we simply don’t know how to say what we feel. These unspoken words, while never uttered, often carry the heaviest weight. Yet they also carry potential. They are the seeds of growth, the catalysts for change, and the markers of introspection. The poems within these pages are my way of exploring the beauty, complexity, and quiet power found in these spaces. The short stories that accompany them bring these abstract emotions to life, grounding them in the lives of characters who, like all of us, grapple with the tension between what is said and what is left unsaid. This collection is an invitation to explore those silent, unspoken moments in your own life. To reflect on the moments when you’ve held your breath, waited for the right words, or quietly discovered something new about yourself in the stillness. It is a reminder that not everything needs to be rushed, and not every answer needs to be spoken out loud. Sometimes, the most profound moments of growth happen in the quiet, unspoken spaces we hold.Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I hope these words resonate with the quiet strength within you.

The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
