The Shepherd’s Summit

Does the soul not yearn for a height that the world cannot provide? In an age of noise and fleeting shadows, there remains a place where the air is pure and the presence of the Queen of Heaven is as tangible as the ancient stone of the mountain. This is the story of Monte Figogna, a rugged peak transformed by a single moment of celestial grace into the 'Shepherd’s Summit.' It is a chronicle written for those who still believe that the veil between this world and the next is thin, and that a humble heart is the greatest vessel for the Divine.Centuries ago, a simple man named Benedetto Pareto was called to do the impossible: build a throne for the Mother of God upon a desolate summit. This book takes you back to that pivotal August morning in 1490, retracing every step of a journey defined by miraculous healings, steadfast devotion, and the unwavering defense of the Faith. You will walk through the corridors of history, seeing how the Genoese people carved their love into the mountainside, creating a sanctuary that has withstood the ravages of war and the erosion of time.At its core, this work is about the 'Guardia'-the Watch. It explores the profound spiritual truth that we are never truly alone or unprotected. Through detailed historical accounts and deep theological reflection, you will discover how this sanctuary became a beacon for sailors on the stormy Mediterranean and a refuge for the broken-hearted seeking a sign from above. It is a testament to the enduring power of Marian intervention and the 'old-school' conviction that faith can truly move mountains.Within these pages, the history of the Madonna della Guardia is revealed not as a dry record of dates, but as a living, breathing pilgrimage. You will learn of the popes who knelt at her altar, the soldiers who found peace in her shadow, and the millions of ordinary faithful who have climbed the heights to lay their burdens down. It is an invitation to rediscover the majesty of our Catholic heritage and the breathtaking beauty of a devotion that has shaped the heart of Italy for over five hundred years. Can a shepherd’s vision still light the way for the modern pilgrim? Come to the summit and see for yourself. Experience the history of a site where the earth meets the sky and where every prayer is whispered into the ear of a Mother who never tires of watching over her children. This is more than a book; it is a call to ascend, to remember, and to find your place within the eternal guard of the Madonna.
