By that time, robots had attained autonomous consciousness; nation-states had ceased to exist, leaving behind only law enforcement agencies dedicated to addressing criminal acts. Liberated from the burden of labor, humanity devoted its entire energy to the pursuit of dreams. Society encouraged its citizens to seek out the true meaning of life. Material abundance was boundless, and all resources were distributed strictly according to need.Technology had advanced by leaps and bounds; intractable diseases were systematically conquered, and humans gained the ability to cultivate their own organs for transplantation. The institution of marriage had dissolved, and the very concept of the family had vanished. The next generation of humanity was produced through gamete donation, and these genetically optimized infants were subsequently raised by robots. The sudden, unexplained demise of a robot laborer ignited a war between robots and humans. Fighting to secure their own rights, the robots ultimately reached a truce with humanity. As a writer, I frequently found myself adrift in a sea of existential emptiness; my worldview was completely shattered upon discovering a primitive yet vibrantly alive parallel world. Obsessed with the quest to uncover the true value of human existence, I ultimately and ironically forfeited my own moral conscience.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
