This book aims to bring to light and examine certain weaknesses or constraints in the current framework of English Language Teaching (ELT) in Greek state Junior High schools as well as their implications to teacher’s role and the status of the teaching of English. Additionally, grounded theory regarding what action might be taken to enhance the existing situation is produced, so that the EFL teacher will improve as a reflective practitioner and the position of the English language will maintain its prominent role internationally. The research method applied to collect data is a questionnaire administered online to ninety Greek EFL teachers generating quantitative information. The outcomes of the research demonstrated that the low rate of ICT use in the FL classroom, lack of teacher training, little availability of weekly time for the teaching of English and language learning materials in use constitute some of the most recognizable and vital EFL limitations which impinge on the teacher’s teaching and assessment practices demotivating the students and degrading English as a school subject.
