This book investigates the small innovations that are needed to bring about the necessary changes to achieve the goal of sustainability or net zero. In doing so, the book also investigates best practices and enables the transfer of techniques and ideas around the world. The contributions in this volume come from all over the world, demonstrating that the same issues affect us all no matter where we are located. The book looks at a number of diverse issues which need to be considered, all of which are examined in the context of their implication for individuals, society, and the way they affect cultural issues.Sustainability is a topic which has become universal and is of concern to everyone. The effects and impact can be very varied according to what action is taken. Much research has been done in this area but most look at its impact upon businesses and the economy, with the environment being considered to a lesser extent. Similarly, much research is looking at a local level whereas achieving sustainability is actually a global issue and some aspects must be addressed from this perspective. It is apparent, therefore, that the world is changing and that we need to change and adapt to a new future. Everyone talks generally about achieving sustainability or achieving net zero without having any clear idea of how this will be achieved. It seems to be generally assumed that new technologies will be needed to bring about the necessary changes. These new technologies are expected to be new inventions or adaptations. The reality is that a lot of small changes are needed and that we must rely upon innovation to achieve this. This innovation can take the form of technological development or it can take the form of new ways of doing things or even the form of changing lifestyles as well as products made and consumed. Written in a simple and accessible manner, this book will serve as a good reference for readers interested in innovation, sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
