The Rich Young Man

'The Rich Young Man : A Fantasy' is a compelling dramatic work that reimagines the poignant biblical encounter between Jesus and the wealthy seeker who asks what he must do to inherit eternal life. Written by the celebrated theologian and author Ronald Arbuthnott Knox, this play blends theological depth with imaginative storytelling to explore the profound themes of sacrifice, material wealth, and the spiritual cost of discipleship.Set within a reflective framework, the narrative delves into the psychological and spiritual internal conflict of a protagonist caught between his earthly comforts and the radical, transformative call of the Gospel. Knox employs a symbolic structure to examine the universal human struggle with detachment and the search for meaning beyond the material world. This work stands as a sophisticated literary reflection on faith, offering a nuanced portrait of a character who possesses everything the world values yet senses a void that only divine truth can fill. 'The Rich Young Man : A Fantasy' is a significant contribution to 20th-century Christian drama, providing a timeless meditation on the challenges and requirements of a committed spiritual life. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
