The Revenge Or A Match In Newgate is a novel written by Aphra Behn. The story is set in the 17th century and follows the life of a young woman named Oroonoko, who is captured and sold into slavery in the New World. She falls in love with a fellow slave named Imoinda, but their relationship is forbidden by their master. Oroonoko is eventually freed and returns to his homeland, but Imoinda is left behind and is later sold into prostitution. Oroonoko seeks revenge on those who have wronged him and sets out to rescue Imoinda. The novel is a tale of love, betrayal, and revenge, and is considered one of Behn’s most popular works. It is also one of the earliest novels to feature a black protagonist and has been praised for its portrayal of slavery and race relations.Well.
