At Mount Sinai, God set up an organization. At that time God’s people-the only people on earth who were the people of God were formed into a nation. As such, they had laws, and government. They were a kingdom on earth! This was both a civil and ecclesiastical government and the start of God’s Church! The ancient Israelites were known as 'The Church in the Wilderness' (Acts.7:38). During Jesus’ day, His disciples understood that the kingdom, with all authority to govern, whether civil or Church government had been taken away from their people, and turned over to the Gentiles. Recall how they asked Him, 'Lord will thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel' (Acts 1:6). But when is the restoration of God’s government going to occur on earth?
