This book takes as its starting point the concern of Physical Education teachers to contribute to improving the health of their students. This book invites the reader to learn about some of the challenges these professionals face in carrying out their duties in order to achieve this goal. The author presents the theory of self-determination and explains its contribution to developing motivational skills for working with students. The author also makes a well-founded suggestion for continuing education for PE teachers. This book is aimed not only at PE professionals, but also at other educational agents. It leaves us with some policy recommendations and school practices that could contribute to schools’ ability to provide the necessary physical activity for their pupils in order to help promote a healthy lifestyle. It also highlights some of the negative consequences of the educational policy imposed on schools over the last few years, with repercussions on their functioning and on teachers’ performance.
