BULLYING....A growing problem in our society.Francesca is a quiet and rather shy girl living in a small town in Georgia. She is looking forward to attending her last year in high school with her two best friends she grew up with when suddenly, her father loses his job and her family is forced to relocate to California. Her mother tries to convince her that moving and attending a new school is a great opportunity to meet new friends. But this is not her experience, at all. Her first day at her new high school is a disaster. She immediately is labeled 'the unattractive weirdo' and becomes an easy target for several kids to single her out for ridicule and insults. The teasing & taunts swiftly turn into more serious assaults. Francesca finds herself hiding out in classrooms and in the bathrooms during lunch to avoid being tormented. But no matter where she hides, they find her and prey on her fears and vulnerability. As the outcast, she is all alone, until one day, in the girl’s gym room, as she is trying to get her jammed locker open, she heard a soft voice from behind, speaking to her. This was the first person at school to speak to her without using offensive or derogatory remarks. These two girls become friends and soon realize that they are both victims of the same bullies. Tired of being labeled the ugly girls, being laughed at and getting pushed around, they both decide enough is enough. They save up their money to have plastic surgery to improve their looks. They then plot the ultimate revenge against those who teased and bullied them through out their senior year in high school. Their journey takes them through an upheaval of emotions with a discovery of inner happiness, loyal friendship and romance. This poignant tale not only provides entertainment, but also inspires and empowers those who read it.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
