Set in a small, rural town in the Finger Lakes region in New York, THE RAINY NIGHT STALKER centers on forensic photographer MAE 'Moon' MCFADDEN. Moon is psychic and communicates with the dead to solve their murders. Moon inherited her psychic abilities from her father’s sister, her AUNT MAISIE. Moon was sent to live with Maisie when she was twelve after witnessing her parents’ murders. When the body of a beautiful woman is discovered in a remote field outside of town, her killing mirrors the recent murders in the Catskills. The FBI’s expert profiler, STUART BAUER, is called in to help Moon catch the serial killer. At the crime scenes and the victims’ homes, Moon picks up clues about who the killer may be from the dead women, yet the killer continues to elude them. The forecast calls for rain, and they only have three days before the killer will strike again. Without any leads, Moon suggests a risky move-they bait the killer at a press conference by divulging false and humiliating information about the killer that only he would know, hoping he’ll get angry enough to make a mistake. Meanwhile, an old boyfriend, MATTHEW BENSON, who had recently come back into Moon’s life, goes to the press conference and sees that Moon is on TV. Afterward, he questions why Moon takes such risks. She says it’s because she’s been given this gift and needs to use it to capture a killer. Matthew presses her into reliving that fateful night when she witnessed her parent’s murder while hiding in their closet. He gets her to confess the guilt she still feels at not being able to save her parents. Moon thinks that if she can stop a killer from claiming his next victim, unlike her family, that family will remain intact. Matthew tells Moon he’s moving back to town to rekindle their romance. Moon realizes she still has feelings for him, but Stuart has made it clear he’s interested in her, too. Tensions flare between Matthew and Stuart, and Moon is torn because she has feelings for both men. At the same time, Moon learns that Maisie’s cancer is back with a vengeance. After Maisie dies, the funeral director comes to take her body. Moon meets his apprentice embalmer, SETH WOODMAN, who unbeknownst to Moon and Stuart is the serial killer they’ve been hunting. Moon exhilarates Seth, and she becomes his newest obsession. Fueled by jealousy, he tries to kill Matthew. Later, Seth breaks into Moon’s home, plants hidden cameras, and creates a spare key so he can come and go as he pleases. As Moon pieces the clues together, Seth feels the noose tightening. He makes his move and abducts her. Only by confronting her deepest fears can she stop the killer before he claims his next victim-her.
