The way in which our society treats our planet and its people needs to change. We cannot continue to live as we do today. But things can be made better. Our problems can be solved. Without money. The Problem with Money is a two-volume book that explores why money is at the heart of today’s social and environmental crises. Volume I explored the reasons why money has such a hold on our society, and why it is so problematic, calling for a new economic system. Volume II presents a picture of what such a system might look like. The Problem with Money reaches into all corners of society, from health to energy, politics to science, transport to housing. All sectors of our economy are infected by the capitalist drive to put profit before people and planet. But there is a better way of doing things. This book takes each aspect of our economy in turn, and explores how we could do things much better without money.

For thousands of years the Psalms have been at the heart of theistic worship, originally as songs sung by the ancient Jewish people whose history the Old Testament records. Their words may have brought comfort and hope to a people that ended up in exil...

  • The Problem with Money
    Tobias Thornes
It is becoming increasingly clear that the way in which our society treats our planet and our people needs to change. In this book, I argue that the state of affairs from which we are eager to escape is that of a money-based, capitalist society, and that many of our environmental and social problems stem from a focus on monetary profit at the expense of more essential component...
