The Odes to Grace was a loose collection of poems documenting the author’s healing journey when recovery from anesthesia left her unable to function as the highly capable professional she had been. Relying on the natural world, a belief in the power of intuition, archetype and metaphor, her dogs and several close friends, her mind reanimated itself into a different constellation of personality. The rawness of feeling close to an edge and the sense of hope gracing her eventual recovery changed her perspective about the experiences of her life, who she was and who she has become. First offered in a community arts exhibition for Death Dancer, a grassroots organization dedicated to removing taboos and normalizing death, dying, and loss by embracing those experiences through the arts, and after receiving numerous requests for a book, the decision was made to finally produce one.
