Flivera is a special red fox with a curiosity that sometimes gets her into tricky situations. She left her family den to explore the rest of the world. Several times, she looks back on the days she spent in the forest of Norfolk County. As she observes life beyond the forest, she imagines great adventures. She has no idea of the misadventures that await her. While foxes are normally active at night, Flivera is often out in the daytime. Her acute sense of smell, vision, and hearing adds flavour to her circumstances and piques her curiosity, leading her to strange and sometimes dangerous places. Farm animals don’t trust her, but most forest animals respect her. However, she does meet a fox who threatens her. Her beauty attracts the people she meets, but some are mean, some are nervous, while others are kind and helpful. Young humans attract Flivera, causing her to long for companionship. However, she is constantly driven away and eventually is seriously injured. She remains guarded and often avoids contact until one day she is forced to trust a man. Her travels take her on a winding trail around southern Ontario, and eventually she finds herself in Quebec. Her journey continues...
