The Minotaur! A Poem, In Three Cantos is a book written by Thomas Lewin in 1849. This book is a poetic retelling of the Greek myth of the Minotaur, a creature with the head of a bull and the body of a man who lived in a labyrinth on the island of Crete. The poem is divided into three cantos, each of which tells a different part of the story. The first canto describes the birth of the Minotaur and the construction of the labyrinth. The second canto tells the story of Theseus, a hero who sets out to slay the Minotaur and free the people of Athens from their tribute to Crete. The third canto describes the aftermath of Theseus’ victory and the downfall of the Cretan king, Minos. Throughout the poem, Lewin uses vivid imagery and descriptive language to bring the myth to life. The Minotaur! A Poem, In Three Cantos is a classic work of literature that continues to be studied and enjoyed by readers today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
