 Animals are of immense importance to our economic activity. They are a key area in the production of vegetables and fruits, as well as other food sources. They also provide important sources of nutrition for people who cannot afford to buy nutritious food. Animal production plays a key role in helping to meet the significant demand for quality protein sources worldwide and combat hunger. Animals have a critical role in providing meat that is essential to many diets around the world. They are also important sources of income for farmers who rely on livestock as their main source of livelihoods.  Animals are valuable assistants to humans in a variety of ways. They provide comic relief, as well as companionship and affection. In addition, they help us to fill an otherwise empty natural environmental niche, performing jobs that no other creature could do in our stead. Without the domestication of animals on farms, there would be no natural ecosystem for them to inhabit and contribute their unique gifts.
