His powers of observation and deduction are legendary. His iconic image portrays the quintessential depiction of a detective. The Memoirs Of Sherlock Holmes is the fourth title in the Sherlock Holmes Series, and is a collection of short stories. Sherlock Holmes, along with his good friend Dr. Watson, are the premier dynamic duo in crime fiction and set the standard for aspiring detectives as well as mystery authors. The stories include cases of theft, blackmail, and matters of national importance. The last story in the book, The Final Problem, depicts Holmes’ apparent death in a struggle with his archenemy, Professor Moriarty. This collection highlights Holmes’ deductive reasoning, his relationship with Watson, and introduces a new character, Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s older brother.Quote from the book-'When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth'― Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Memoirs Of Sherlock HolmesInteresting trivia tid-bit: 'Elementary, my dear Watson,' is perhaps the most well-known phrase of the Sherlock Holmes stories. The only problem is, that phrase never actually appears in any of the manuscripts written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Caveat; Holmes did often use the word 'elementary' to describe his deductions and did address Watson as 'my dear Watson,' but he never combined the two into a single phrase.
