The Marie Curie Collection

This volume presents a selection of the most important writings of Marie Curie, one of the most influential scientists in modern history. Through her groundbreaking research into radioactivity, Curie helped open an entirely new field of scientific discovery that would transform physics, chemistry, and medicine. The Marie Curie Collection: Writings, Scientific Papers, and Lectures brings together several of Curie’s most significant works, offering readers a unique opportunity to explore her scientific ideas in her own words.Included in this collection are:• Pierre Curie (1923), Marie Curie’s biography of her husband and scientific collaborator Pierre Curie• Autobiographical Notes (1923), Curie’s reflections on her early life and scientific career• The Discovery of Radium (1921), a lecture describing the experiments that led to the identification of one of the most remarkable elements in modern science• The Nobel Prize Lecture (1911), delivered after Curie received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her work on radioactive substancesTogether these writings provide insight into the history of the discovery of Radium, the development of the study of Radioactivity, and the intellectual partnership that shaped one of the most remarkable scientific achievements of the twentieth century.More than a century after her discoveries, Marie Curie’s work continues to influence research in nuclear physics, chemistry, and medical science.
