I was married for almost forty years, and throughout that journey I learned many lessons-some through love, others through pain, and many through reflection. My experiences shaped my understanding of marriage, faith, communication, and the long-term impact our choices have not only on our spouses, but on our children and the generations that follow.I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and a Master’s degree in Written Communication, which have strengthened my ability to observe, understand, and clearly express the dynamics that influence relationships. In 2025, I was ordained as a Deacon, a calling that deepened my commitment to serving others through faith, integrity, and accountability. As a divorced father with two adult children, a grandfather of five, and a great-grandfather of five, I have seen firsthand how marriages can either build stability or create lasting wounds. This book was written from lived experience, not theory. It reflects both the mistakes I made and the wisdom I gained over time. The Manuscript for Marriage is my testimony, my warning, and my hope-that couples will learn from my journey, strengthen their relationships, and build marriages grounded in trust, communication, love, and God’s guidance.Robert Emmett Smith
