Our journey from Australia to Heathrow was long, made even longer by delays in Dubai, yet the moment we stepped through the gates at Chelsea, we knew the effort was worth it.As in so many years before, the displays were outstanding-alive with colour, imagination, and the quiet devotion of those who grow, design, and present these botanical wonders. We met people who wanted to talk, to share, to savour the moment. And this year was made all the more precious by having one of our daughters with us, adding a layer of joy to every step we took.Among the many remarkable exhibits, the South African display stood out with extraordinary force. Its vast collection of native flowers, dramatic storytelling, and thoughtful depiction of fire’s regenerative role in the natural landscape were breathtaking. Constructing and transporting such an immense display across continents is a feat of dedication and artistry.Other blooms captured our hearts too-dogwoods with their gentle elegance, clematis with their vivid hues and delicate forms.
