The Love That Casteth Out Fear: Sinfonia Sacra For Contralto And Bass Soli, Semi-Chorus, Chorus, And Orchestra (1904) is a musical composition by Charles Hubert Hastings Parry. It is a sacred symphony that features a contralto and bass soloists, semi-chorus, chorus, and full orchestra. The work was first performed in 1904 and is considered one of Parry’s most significant contributions to English choral music. The title of the piece is taken from the Bible, specifically from the First Epistle of John, which states that ''perfect love casts out fear.'' The piece is divided into seven movements, each exploring different aspects of faith and spirituality. Parry’s use of rich harmonies and intricate counterpoint creates a powerful and emotional musical experience. The Love That Casteth Out Fear is a masterpiece of English choral music and remains a popular piece in the choral repertoire. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
