In this story, before the Earth was created, Gravity and Magic existed as enemies. Gravity pursued Magic and Magic hid from its pursuit. Magic concealed its presence amongst the gas and the dust and the rocks in space and Gravity held it prisoner in its created world. Gradually Magic escaped, little by little, enabling life to evolve and grow and Mankind to advance in technological and scientific fields. One day, after Magic has fled, a young woman, the inheritor of the most powerful witchcraft on the planet, unwittingly brings the Magic back from space. The lives of five people are transformed as they are torn from their ordinary daily existence. Their abilities are enhanced and together they reconcile the loss of their humanity, families, and friends with the strength of empowerment. A serial killer, with variant DNA, a member of the group, intertwines, giving purpose to their lives. They bring justice and retribution as they hold the Law of Magic.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
