This poetic fiction (based on true story) in the form of free verses is a loose translation of renowned author Satya Mohan Joshi’s poetry entitled Nepal-ya Rastriye Bibhuti Kalakar Arniko-ya Sweta Chaitya in Nepal Bhasa language, published by Nepal Bhasa Parishad, Kathmandu, Nepal in 1984.The story is about Arniko (1244-1306), a Nepalese architect who crossed the Himalayas more than 700 years ago and designed and built many masterpieces in China and settled there.During the period of Emperor Hu Pi Le’s rule in China, Nepal was requested to dispatch 100 fine artists for the construction of Golden Stupa in Tibet. 80 fine artists were sent under the leadership of Arniko. Impressed by his skills, teacher Pasapa took him to emperor’s court in Beijing (then Da Du). There, he rose from one position to another throughout his life. Different emperors decorated him with titles such as Ta Sa Thu (equivalent of a minister). He was honored even after his death. The most important project Arniko undertook was the construction of the White Dagoba. Built in eight years (1271-79), it has withstood thousands of storms and thunderstorms and remains a striking feature of Beijing’s skyline. Designated as a historical treasure after the foundation of People’s Republic of China and known as Bai Ta or Miao Ying Temple, it is open to tourists. The readers will experience as if listening to a tourist guide telling a curious story in broken language. And this book will be informative to tourists and all.

The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
