The world was on fire. And they made it out alive. Hanging on to each other for support the remaining survivors reach their destination where they hope to find the last of Ishy’s family. For the children. But the land is barren, destroyed, everything burned to a crisp. Still, they keep going, and come across old coins, a pouch, a saw, and the word 'Patmos' inscribed on an enormous cauldron. They collect what they can, and continue on, encountering other people along the way, the first, an odd man covering his right ear with his palm, talking about an event in the past which seems to have traumatized him. He is confused, walking back and forth in an alley, surrounded by crushed buildings.Next they encounter Simon, who thinks carrying a cross is his job. The clueless pilgrims have no opinion on the matter since the bible was extinguished long ago. But Simon is helpful and agrees to guide them to Patmos, their new destination. Then one of the pilgrims goes off on her own and becomes miserably lost. She asks random individuals she sees for food and water to stay alive, and directions to find her way back, while they obsess over their part in a time that shook the world. The Last Pilgrims is a one of a kind, commemorative book. You will never think of culprits the same way again. Secondary Bible characters are flesh and blood, and they have something to say.
